All the Esteemed Trustees of GDCT shared their valuable time and memories with Haji Ali Hussain Hakla Sahib. The passing away of Hakla Sahib is an irreparable loss to GDCT and to the entire community. He was a noble soul, a committed social worker, and a guiding force whose contributions, wisdom, and dedication to GDCT and to the cause of community welfare shall always be remembered with respect and gratitude. May Almighty Allah grant him the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdaus and give strength, patience, and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this immense loss. Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raji‘oon.

Floral Tribute and Homage to Baba-e-Qoum Late Dr. Masud Choudhary on his 3rd Death Anniversary

An impressive commemoration function was organized at Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust (GDCT) to pay a heartfelt tribute to the Founder GDCT, Baba-e-Qoum late Dr. Masud Ahmed Choudhary, former ADGP, founder Vice Chancellor Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri, and a great visionary icon of the community on his 3rd Death Anniversary here at GDCT today.
The event was graced by the presence of Jenab Omar Abdullah Sb, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir as Chief Guest, Qaid-e-Saani Jenab Dr. Farooq Abdullah Sb President JKNC & Former Chief Minister J&K, Jb. Javed Ahmed Rana Sb Hon’ble Cabinet Minister & younger brother of Baba-e-Qaum, paid rich tribute to Baba-e-Qoum Dr. Masud Ahmed Choudhary, on his 3rd Death Anniversary and recalled his contributions in the field of education & socio-economic upliftment of the weaker sections of society particularly Gujjar & Bakerwal Community.

Sitting Members of Legislative Assembly, Ex-Legislators, Senior Politicians, Former and Serving Bureaucrats, Advocates, family members, a good number of Trustees, Principal KBPS Ms. Nehreer Khan, staff & students, a large gathering of social activists, & other prominent persons of civil society and people cutting across caste, creed & religion offered floral tributes & Fateha Khawani at the graveyard adjacent to GDCT. The programme began with the recitation of Tilawat-e-Quran Pak by Hafiz-e-Quran Molana Muhammad Ajmal Nadvi Sb followed by Dua-e-Maghfirat.

Mr. Arshad Ali Choudhary, Chairman GDCT, warmly welcomed all participants on the 3rd Death Anniversary of Baba-e-Qoum & apprised them about the achievements of the Trust during Dr. Masud Ahmed Choudhary’s lifetime and after his demise. The Chairman also assured participants that the Trust will continue to carry forward the mission of Baba-e-Qoum in achieving the future goals laid down by Dr. Masud Choudhary, which include the Establishment of a Tribal University, Tribal Women College, Coaching Centre for Civil Services, Nursing College, Skill Development Institutions, and preserving the rich Heritage, Culture, and Gojri Language.

The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Er. Mohammad Sadiq Azad, General Secretary GDCT, and Ms. Naseem Akhter, Trustee. The General Secretary presented rich poetry tributes to Baba-e-Qoum on the occasion. A documentary on the Life & Works of Masud Choudhary, prepared & edited by Dr Javed Rahi, Chief Editor, J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Jammu, was displayed on the screen.

Mr. Zeeshan Rana, Trustee/Nephew of Baba-e-Qoum and Ch. Khalil Ahmed Poswal, SSP, son-in-law of Baba-e-Qoum also presented rich tributes to Baba-e-Qoum Dr. Masud Ahmed Choudhary, Founder of Brig K.B Public School & Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust.

Advocate Shah Mohammad Chowdhary, Senior Trustee lauded the contributions made by Dr. Masud Choudhary in establishing the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri, & Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust, Jammu. While paying his respectful tribute, he said that the role of Dr. Masud Choudhary in the field of education and also in preserving the rich culture, heritage & language of Gujjar-Bakerwal Tribals is marvelous.

Jenab Aslam Quershi (Retd IAS) also shared his experience about his long association with Dr. Masud Ahmed Choudhary. He said that Baba-e-Qoum was not only a professional Police Officer but such a great visionary officer who believed in hard work & ensuring that whatever task he took, he finished it with great dedication & zeal.

Ch. Haroon Rashid Khatana, Senior Trustee, underlined the need & emphasized that the Trustees of GDCT must carry the vision & mission of Dr. Masud Choudhary forward. Sh. Raman Bhalla, Former Minister, lauded the social work done by Mr. Masud Choudhary, particularly in the field of education & preserving the rich culture of Gujjar Bakerwals. Sh. Vikram Randhava, Hon’ble MLA Bahu, also spoke on the occasion & glorified the achievements of Dr Masud Choudhary as a good administrator & renowned academician & a great social reformer who was conferred with a Doctorate Degree by Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University in recognition of his services as its Founder Vice-Chancellor. Jenab Abdul Hamid Choudhary, Patron-in-Chief, recalled his memories with Baba-e-Qoum Dr. Masud Ahmed Choudhary & shared his excellent experience of working under the guidance of Baba-e-Qoum.

Jenab Javed Ahmed Rana, Hon’ble Minister, while speaking & recalling his close association with Dr. Masud Choudhary as a brother & a strong guiding force behind his success, said that Dr. Masud Choudhary was a great visionary & an intellectual who dedicated his entire life for the upliftment of the community & other weaker sections of the society. He also paid rich tribute on behalf of the family and remembered him for the achievements & outstanding services Dr. Masud Choudhary rendered in the Police Deptt. & subsequently as an academician in establishing BGSB University & GDCT.
While addressing the gathering, Jenab Omar Abdullah Sb, the Hon’ble Chief Minister J&K, recalled his profound association with the late Dr. Masud Ahmed Choudhary, describing him not just as a good officer, but as a guiding light for the entire region. The Chief Minister stated that Dr. Choudhary was a great visionary and an intellectual giant who dedicated his entire life for the upliftment of the Gujjar-Bakerwal community and other weaker sections of society.

Jenab Omar Abdullah Sb paid rich tributes on behalf of the state administration and the people of the region, remembering the outstanding services Dr. Masud Choudhary rendered with utmost distinction in the Police Department, and subsequently as an exceptional academician in establishing the foundational institutions of BGSB University and the Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust. He emphasized that Dr. Choudhary's legacy would continue to inspire future generations.

In his concluding remarks, Qaid-e-Saani Jenab Dr. Farooq Abdullah Sb, Former Chief Minister and President JKNC, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of unity and collective responsibility in carrying forward Dr. Masud Ahmed Choudhary's mission. He praised Dr. Choudhary as a man of the masses whose life was a testament to selfless service and integrity.

Dr. Abdullah underscored that while opponents might try to create difficulties, the community must remain united to achieve future success, drawing strength from the vision Dr. Choudhary instilled in the people. He spoke passionately about Dr. Choudhary's role as an institution-builder who focused heavily on empowering the Gujjar-Bakerwal community and other marginalized sections of society, leaving behind an enduring legacy of service that will continue to inspire generations. He urged everyone present to follow the path of harmony, social justice, and education championed by the late leader.

Ghani Gayoor, (ii) Dr. Masud Choudhary & BGSBU written by Jb. Zakir Malik Bhallesi (iii) A novel titled “Everything is Cursed” written by Ms. Javeria M. daughter of esteemed Trustee Ch. Shakeel Ahmed, a Gojri Magazine complied by Ch. Tariq Abrar Trustee and a Newspaper (Special Fourth Edition) on Dr. Masud Choudhary by Ch. Salam Din Bajad (Sr. Trustee), were released on the occasion by the Chief Guest, Jenab Omar Abdullah Hon’ble Chief Minister, J&K.

In continuation with 150th Birthday Celebrations of Sh. Birsa Munda, a two-day National Seminar on the Theme "Janjatiya Gaurav (Tribal Pride)", Weaving Janjatiya Heritage as Pathways to Sustainable Futures in North-Western Himalayas" was successfully organised by the Division of Agricultural Economics & Agri-Business Management, SKUAST-Jammu, in Collaboration with ICSSR. Haji Arshad Ali Choudhary, Chairman, Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust, was the Chief Guest on the concluding day of the celebration. Er. Md. Sadiq Azad, General Secretary GDCT and Ch. Shouket Javed, Senior Trustee GDCT also participated in the Celebrations. Chief Guest and other dignitaries were felicitated by the Organizing Team, SKUAST-Jammu with memento and plants on the closing session as a mark of respect and gratitude for their distinguished services for upliftment of tribal communities of Jammu and Kashmir, especially Gujjar-Bakerwal Community. The Director BKBPS Mr. Iftikhar Hussain Chauhan warmly welcomed the Chief Guest along with all other dignitaries, Parents and students and highlighted the school's achievements. This was followed by a Welcome Song, which was performed with great energy and enthusiasm.

The event showcased a vibrant celebration of talent, culture, and achievement, highlighting the school's rich heritage and commitment to excellence. The program featured a range of performances, including Gojri/Dogri dances, songs, plays, and qawwali highlighting the diversity and richness of Indian culture. Annual prize distribution for Sports and Academics was also given to the students. Distinguished guests were present to grace the event. In her Annual Report, Principal Ms Nehreer Khan gave an overview of the various achievements of the school providing a glimpse of various achievements through an exhaustive PPT. Glittering performances by Students in the form of Group dances, Qawalis and Bhangra thrilled the audience. While Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Jenab Javed Ahemed Rana Hon'ble Minister appreciated the GDCT for undertaking various welfare programs and urged the students to make the most of the opportunities provided by this school and strive for excellence in all their future endeavours. He also informed that Govt. will definitely support the GDCT to continue with their endeavours.

The Patron in Chief of the Trust Haji Abdul Hamid Choudhary appreciated the dedication & hard work of Staff and Students for making the Annual Day a huge success & announced various beneficial incentive for the Staff of Trust & School including 5% Salary hike, refreshment to the Students/Staff of School. Lastly Patron-in-Chief offered Principal KBPS Ms. Nehreer Khan to organise a Free Lunch to all the Staff of Trust & School at luxurious restaurant located in Jammu city.

The Ceremony started with a presentation of bouquet to the Esteemed Chief Guest Shri Anand Jain IPS, ADGP, J&K Police by Principal KBPS, followed by the lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp by the Chief Guest, Patron-in-chief GDCT Haji Abdul Hamid Choudhary, Chairman GDCT Mr. Arshad Ali Choudhary, Director KBPS Mr. Iftikhar Hussain Chauhan, General Secretary Er. Mohd. Sadiq Azad, Jb. Shouket Javed Sr. Trustee, Jb. Mohammad Yousuf Khepar, Principal KBPS Ms. Nehreer Khan & Staff.

The event was a spectacular showcase of talent, creativity, and teamwork, featuring a diverse range of performances and activities. The audience was then treated to a mesmerizing Naat performance, which set the tone for the rest of the day. In the Welcome Address Ms. Allaya Batt warmly welcomed the Chief Guest along with all other dignitaries, Parents and students and highlighted the school's achievements. This was followed by a Welcome Song, which was performed with great energy and enthusiasm. The highlight of the day was the traditional Gojri &Punjabi dance performances performed by students of Brig. K.B. Public School & was a testament to the student’s cultural heritage.

The event proceeded with the ramp walk by Nursery and L.K.G students, who showcased their confidence and poise. The UKG students then took to the stage with a high-energy dance performance. The Chairman of the Trust Mr. Arshad Ali Choudhary presented a Memento to the Chief Guest for his services in providing support for the welfare & protection of the people of J&K. The Chief Guest Shri Anand Jain IPS, ADGP Jammu in his speech gave valuable suggestions &applauded the students and teachers for their tireless efforts and display of vibrant performances and enthusiasm. He commended the inclusive environment of the school. He urged the students to make the most of the opportunities provided by this school and strive for excellence in all their future endeavours. The Chief Guest emphasized the importance of collaboration in shaping a better future for the youth and encouraged everyone to continue working towards this goal.

Jb. Javed Ahmed Rana in his speech lauded the role of Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust in the field of Socio-Economic, cultural and particularly in imparting the education among Tribals, preserving their rich culture & suggested various measures for the improvement of Gojri Language & Culture.

The Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust (Regd) a Non-Governmental Organisation working for the Tribals of J&K for the last Three decades celebrated "JANJATIYA GOURAV DIVAS" (Tribal Pride Day) at Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust, Jammu today on 15th November 2024.

The Programme was organized under the Chairmanship of Mr. Arshad Ali Choudhary Chairman GDCT, wherein Jb. Zafar Iqbal Choudhary renowned Journalist & analyst & Dr. Javaid Rahi, a renowned scholar and Secretary Kala Kendra Society were the Guests of Honour on the occasion.
In the welcome Address General Secretary GDCT Er. M. Sadiq Azad requested the Chairman GDCT to preside over the function & warmly welcomed the Guests of Honour, Distinguished guests, Trustees, Community Members, Media Persons, Prominent Personalities belonging to Gujjar Community and different social organisations, G&B Students from Jammu University and P.G. Rich Tributes were paid by Sr. Trustees Bashir Ahmed Noon & Adv. Shah Mohammad Chowdhary to Sh. Birsa Munda on his 150th Birth Anniversary, who was born on November 15, 1875 in Ulihatu village in Jharkhand. He belonged to Munda Tribe, an indigenous Tribal Community in the Chota Nagpur Plateau but his life changed drastically when the British Colonial Policies forced displacement of Munda Tribe from their lands and were forced to work as bonded labourers by the exploitative landlords. The Munda Tribals were oppressed and marginalized in their own homeland. Birsa Munda raised the voice against this oppression and the Birsa Movement called “Ulgulan” started for the Soico-Economic, Religious and Cultural emancipation of the Tribal People. Birsa Munda was arrested in 1895 for inciting Tribal rebellion but was soon released. He was once again arrested in 1900 & was sadly died under mysterious circumstances in British custody at the age of 25 on June 9, 1900.

During the Celebration different items of Gojri Culture & Education were presented like Gojri Bait by Mr. Azad Ahmed Azad, Ms Zakriya Bano Student of P.G Hostel Jammu highlighted the issues of Tribal Women, their issues and challenges. Mohammad Sajid P.G. Deptt. of Urdu (JU) emphasized on Tribal Schemes and its implementation. Mohammad Imran Student of Boys P.G. Hostel Jammu highlighted the issues of Tribal Youth.

Dr. Javaid Rahi informed the guests about the Tribal Identity & Various developmental Schemes of Govt. & highlighted the Tribal Issues during the function & The audience present in the Hall were fully entertained & impressed by the performances of participants & the performers were appreciated with loud clappings.

Zafar Iqbal Choudhary Sr. Journalist in his speech lauded the role of Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust in the field of Socio-Economic particularly in promoting the education among Tribals, preserving their rich culture & suggested various measures for the improvement of Gojri Language & Culture. He also put stress on providing proper health education to Tribals & their women. The Chairman GDCT presented individual Mementos to the Guest of Honours & participating students including Shahida Khanam from Bandipora for their services for the welfare of Gujjar & Bakerwal Community. Manoj Sinha Ji on 09.09.2024 at Rajbhavan, submitted a memorandum and apprised him of various aims, objectives and achievements of the Trust during last 32 years in serving the downtrodden Gujjar-Bakerwal community socially, educationally and culturally. Issues concerning Gujjar-Bakerwal community and future endeavors by the Trust in the service of community were also discussed and Hon’ble LG was kind enough to give a patience hearing and assured his full support. Hon’ble LG Sh. Manoj Sinha Ji also consented to visit GDCT.
